WHO MAY ENTER

Groups may be from anywhere in the world. No need to have been previously involved with Earthwatch Institute. Groups must consist of at least one educator and/or one non-school employed member of the community, and at least 3 students from local school(s) and or community . Projects must be initiated by members of the team, not a government agency, school memorandum or private interest. Projects that have already been in process are accepted for review as long as the project in still in process.

HOW TO ENTER

Initiate a group conservation project in your community focusing on one or more of the following themes:

• Terrestrial life & ecosystems
• Aquatic life & ecosystems
• Culture & history
• Environmental issues

Proposals should be 100-500 words and may include additional illustrations or appendices. Digital format of all materials is preferred, but not required.

While your projects do not need to emulate the Earthbound3 Team’s research, you should keep up with their activities and Teach Live journals for inspiration by visiting earthbound3.earthwatch.org

For more ideas, visit Roots & Shoots, the community based organization started by Jane Goodall.

Financial support is not necessary to develop an outstanding project.  However, if you need funding to work on your project contact Roots & Shoots to apply for a mini-grant or visit www.earthwatch.org/education/educator/funding.html

A coordinator should be selected to act as a liaison between the group, Earthwatch and the community. Organization of each group (individual roles, timelines, meeting places etc.) is entirely up to the group to decide. Projects must be communicated to members of the community and should include public participation wherever possible.

Mail, email, or fax your group’s project proposal to:
